Our Vines
The Bonnin Family vineyards cover 43 hectares in the Loire Valley, primarily around the village of Martigné-Briand in the commune of Terranjou, an area renowned for its temperate climate and diverse soils. At the heart of our plantings are Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon—the key grape varieties behind our traditional Loire Valley red and rosé cuvées.
Chenin, the emblematic white grape of the Loire Valley, is cultivated for both our white wines and our sparkling « Fines Bulles ».
We also grow Chardonnay, Grolleau, Gamay, and Pineau d’Aunis, which inspire the creation of our more innovative cuvées.
At Famille Bonnin, generations pass, but the land remains — shaping the true character of our grapes and our wines. This deep connection reminds us of the responsibility we have to preserve our soils, for ourselves and for future generations.
For this reason, we have chosen Sustainable Farming, joining Terra Vitis in 2001 and the DEPHY FERME program of the Ministry of Agriculture in 2013 (see “Our Commitments”).
All our daily work is guided by three fundamental goals:
-
to farm in an ecologically respectful and responsible way
-
to promote soil–plant balance for optimal qualitative expression
-
to produce high-quality grapes for all our markets, ensuring the long-term future of our estate
In the vineyard, this translates into:
-
detailed soil analyses for each plot to tailor our viticultural practices
-
tilling or grass cover to limit or replace herbicides
-
leaf thinning and the enhancement of natural prophylactic methods
-
reduction of phytosanitary inputs whenever possible
-
continuous investment in efficient, environmentally friendly equipment that also improves working conditions for our team
From the vine to the glass, our guiding principles remain unchanged: quality, respect for tradition, and care for our land.
